Discovering Options "Partner of the Month"

Discovering Options "Partner of the Month" for November is Lava Construction. 

We spoke with Jason Diebling of Lava Construction to discover what drives their charitable efforts, as well as the advantages of working with Discovering Options.

 Q: Why do you feel it is so important to give to local charities?

 A: I think any organization that has the means should always try to help the local community in which they do business.  Not everyone is as fortunate as we are and I feel that if you have the opportunity to help, you should try to take advantage of that opportunity.

Q: How has helping area organizations, such as Discovering Options helped Lava Construction?

A: It really helps our organization have more of a sense of community.  Some of the guys I work with volunteered their time to help on some of these projects.  It really helps our organization as a whole be more in tune with what is going on with the community.  When my guys see that we are willing to give to the community, I also think it helps them become more committed in helping the community as well.

Q: What drew your business to Discovering Options specifically?

A: Everything we have been involved with Discovering Options thus far has made an instant impact.  You can see there is a need and try and fill that need.  It is great when you know your commitment is going to help local kids, families, and the people teaching them.  It is just a great experience and organization to be involved with.

 

Discovering Options is a St. Louis-based agency that provides at-risk students with supportive and life-enriching programs to prevent drug abuse. Our clients are St. Louis public school students living with risk factors (family conflict, poverty, a lack of commitment to school, behavior problems, and neighborhoods where drugs are easily accessible). Our mission is to expand the options these students have, and to help them avoid drug use and other self-destructive behavior.
